I Found a Place to Live in France!
Presently I am living with a nice lady on top of a preschool, which has a pretty blue spiral staircase leading up to the place. The lady has art covering the walls from every corner of the earth along with sculptures that she made herself. The interior is impeccably decorated which makes me feel quite at home here. I must say, it is a nice feeling to be surrounded by Picassos while you pee.
Caroline talks a lot, mostly in French, although she is quite fluent in English as well. I will probably owe my eventual fluency to her. Last night: She picks up a magazine and tells me that this one is particularly good for improving french vocabulary. She goes though it page by page explaining the gist of each article of interest and then implores me to ask her anything I don’t understand which she will “expliquer”, later. She is a teacher after all. I learn that she loves coffee, flower gardens, and the arte channel on TV. We spend the rest of the night watching, first, an interview with a horribly translated Katy Perry segment, and then a bit about growing fuschia flowers in the country. My head hurts from all the French but I get to sleep in tomorrow so all’s well. I will visit my school for the first time tomorrow.
